"The Lodge at Big Falls was a delightful place to stay. The cabanas were comfortable and spacious, the food delicious (incredible banana smoothies!), and the grounds full of wildlife. One morning while having breakfast we saw twelve species of raptors soaring above the canopy including Gray-headed Kite and Black Hawk-Eagle! Meanwhile, a nearby fruiting tree hosted Collared Aracari, Bananaquit, Golden-hooded Tanager and Red-legged Honeycreeper! Butterflying around the lodge was also excellent with such gems as Red-bordered Pixie, Crimson Patch, Zebra Beauty, Memnon Giant-Owl and Blue Morpho flitting around the compound. A naturalist's paradise!" Michael O'Brien |
The Restaurant & Bar:
The Lodge is covered by a high thatched ceiling and accommodates a full service restaurant and bar. Lodge meals offer a range of local and international dishes, with vegetarian and childrens alternatives. Freshly packed lunches will be prepared
for day tours. The well stocked bar offers a wide selection of cocktails, fruit and soft drinks as well as beer and wine. From the main verandah, you can enjoy beautiful sunsets while sipping an ice cold drink. |
The Cabanas:
The spacious cabanas have been designed to achieve a living space which subtly merges the internal and external environments.
The rooms are all individual cottage style cabanas (sleeping up to four persons) with a full en-suite spacious bathroom providing hot and cold water and an interesting feature that we will save for you to discover... Each cabana is thatched with bay-leaf palm, a traditional Belizean thatching material.
Beautifully tiled floors, ceiling fans and fully screened, wood louvered windows offer a cool well-ventilated living area.
Colourful local and regional soft furnishings complete the décor, many of which will be available to purchase in our gift shop. Landscape plantings around the cabanas have been selected to attract birds and butterflies close to the guest’s living space and this wealth of flora and fauna can be enjoyed from your own thatched verandah. The Lodge delivers your choice of juice, coffee or other drinks to your verandah each morning where you can sit and enjoy the cool air or survey the early bird activity. |

The Resource Centre:
