Rum Point Inn amenities for guests include: our New 40' swimming
pool, bicycles, kayaks, Hobie Cat, Sunfish,
large colorful wooden beach chairs, snorkel gear, a sailing dinghy, and a
self guided Nature Trail. There is a full line of DACOR SCUBA gear available
for rent. Snorkel and dive instruction can be arranged right on the premises
with our dive shop, Rum Point Divers.
The extensive library, both books and video, covers Maya studies,
Natural History, Belizean authors, and history, an assortment of reference
materials, current fiction, Latin American authors, various magazines and
publications, an extensive video and book selection for children, and some
board games. These can be enjoyed in the library, or, better yet, on the
hammock hung verandah overlooking the beach.
Many tours are available including a visit to the Cockscomb
Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, the world's only Jaguar Preserve; perhaps a boat
trip up the Monkey River to see birds, iguanas, and Howler Monkeys and
more; or take a journey to the Maya Ruins of Southern Belize - Lubaantun
and Nimli Punit and the Maya villages of today. Another popular activity
is Fishing.

Dive sites are marked by G.P.S. to insure they are in the right spot without having to drop an anchor on the living coral reefs below. Each boat carries a first aid kit, oxygen, and marine band radio and the crew is trained in CPR and First Aid. The Captain and the Divemasters are all insured and in good standing with PADI. Passengers can be assured that, although remote, every precaution is taken to ensure the safety of guests. Rum Point Divers is a Bronze sponsor of the DAN program and is also involved with the hyperbaric chamber program in San Pedro. A charge of $1 US per tank fee is collected to insure guests in the unlikely event that should there be a diving related injury, they will be financially covered for transport and admission to the facility in San Pedro. This service is also useful for the diver who is already insured by the DAN program, as this service will cover the initial deductible. |
The boats at Rum Point Inn are led by the premier dive boat in the area,
the 42ft. jet boat AURIGA II. Rum Point Divers has an air compressor and
keeps 80 80cu. ft. tanks, and a few 67 cu ft and 52 cu ft available for
our guests. The dive boat leaves every morning at 8:30 am and returns between 3:00 and
5:00 p.m. Rental gear and instruction available on request.
