The Hotel Posada de la Selva, better known by the English translation of its name - The Jungle Lodge Hotel- is family owned and operated by the hospitable Ortis Family.
The main thatched building houses the Reception, Bar, Dining Room and Lounge (with an incredible mural on the wall depicting Tikal in glorious technicolor as it would have looked at the
height of it's power and importance).
The Jungle Lodge Hotel is ideally situated within the Tikal National Park and offers the closest accommodations to the temples and pyramids being only an easy 1 km walk to the very heart of
Tikal - The Central Plaza (Plaza Major).
Paved footpaths lead through beautifully landscaped grounds to the bungalow accommodations.
The spacious rooms have two double beds, large private bathrooms with hot water and (limited) electricity. High ceilings with fans and the jungle canopy above keep the rooms cool and each bungalow has its own private porch with lounge chairs.
Spider Monkeys, Howler Monkeys, Coatimundi, Keel-billed Toucans, Scarlet Macaws and Ocellated Turkeys are some of the wildlife you can expect ot see in the grounds and the night air is filled with the sounds of the jungle - howler monkeys, crickets and parrots.
A refreshing swim will cool you off in the heat of the day in the swimming pool shaped like a Mayan Temple or help you to relax after your exertions in the late afternoon.
After an exciting day of discovery and exploration, relax with a refreshing drink from our well-stocked bar and later, enjoy a candle lit dinner sampling a variety of international cuisine.
